EVERYDAY LIGHT (TILE PRODUCTION)

Davis artist, Hearne Pardee, designed this outdoor installation and asked me do the tile work for the table. I hired good friend and master tile installer, Gerry Iuliano, to help.
As part of the project, Hearne made several paintings describing the colors and shapes he found in natural surroundings. Based on those paintings, and the long rectangular ‘color tracks’ he added to the bottom of each painting, he created a palette and pattern “to create a woven pattern of daily light on a picnic table”.
