Collaborative Process: Stepping Stones

I collaborated with Napa County teens through Mentis’ TeensConnect program to create a series of mosaic stepping stones that highlight messages of mental health, strength, and self-expression. Each teen designed and built a unique stone with an accompanying written reflection, creating pieces that speak directly to their peers and future students. The stones were first exhibited at the Napa Library alongside interpretive signage and later installed at local school sites throughout the county. The project was both powerful and challenging—offering teens an opportunity to process their experiences and leave a lasting message of care, visibility, and encouragement.
