Commissioned as a heartfelt gift for Gerry and David, this portrait series honors five of their cherished goats—Prima, Chiara, Benedetto, Bianca, and Carina—drawn from life and personal photographs. These goats weren’t just beloved companions; they played a heroic role in eating down grass and brush around the couple’s Vacaville home during the 2020 Napa wildfires, helping save the house when the surrounding winery and outbuildings were lost. Working in colored pencil, I captured each animal’s personality and expression, pairing realistic detail with hand-lettered names to create a warm tribute to their “goat heroes.”
