Working under the direction of muralist Angela Tirrell, I contributed to the painting of intricately detailed banding and wall designs for this shrine to St. Francis of Assisi. Located in San Francisco’s North Beach, the space is a carefully crafted replica of the 13th-century Basilica di Santa Chiara in Assisi, Italy. Our mural work drew directly from Medieval sources, honoring the architecture and devotional spirit of the original church. The result is a richly ornamented interior that bridges time and tradition.
